Comscore Reports that the U.S. Catches Up with Western Europe in Adoption of 3G Mobile Devices

This is great new from the US for american 3G interactive services market evolution! Reston, VA, September 4, 2008 – comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today reported that after a slower start,  the United States has caught up with Western Europe in the adoption of 3G with 28.4 percent of American mobile subscribers having 3G devices versus 28.3 percent in the largest countries in Europe. The number of U.S. subscribers with 3G enabled devices has grown 80 percent to 64.2 million during the past year. The market has responded enthusiastically as mobile vendors have rolled out their enhanced networks and a new crop of 3G enabled devices. This insteresting 2007’s summer study published by Dimension Data (in collaboration with Cisco) on the perception gap between “vendors” (developers, system integrators, voice application developers, and speech technology vendors) and “consumers” of speech-enabled self service solutions helps better understanding the business opportunities with IVR. Conclusion, we need to listen more about user’s requirements and needs before building a speech self service. Of course, that may not be a revelation to anyone who seriously engages in voice user interface design. VoiceXML based IVR are leading the market’s evolution

According to last 2008 Datamonitor‘s report and a referenced DestinationCRM‘s article, global investment in IVR licenses will increase from $475 million in 2006 to $845 million by 2012, in large part due to the adoption of VoiceXML. In a shift away from open-standard IVR platforms, these new statistics show approximately 69 percent of all IVR shipments will be VoiceXML-based platforms.
